The CDC signed a declaration determining that the evictions of tenants could be detrimental to public health control measures to slow the spread of the virus COVID-19.
The original moratoriums were implemented to help people stay on their feet during the toughest time. That expired at the end of July. Now the CDC issued another eviction moratorium beginning 9/1 until the end of the year.
With the new eviction moratoriums in place, it creates an open season for tenants to stop making payments, with very little help for landlords.
In July, a firm estimated more than $21.5 billion in past due rent is owed to Americans.
